Argentina is one of the world's most extraordinary destinations — Buenos Aires, Patagonian glaciers, Iguazú Falls, and the wine valleys of Mendoza. The main challenge for Ugandans is the absence of an Argentine Embassy in Uganda; apply at the Argentine Embassy in Nairobi. YF mandatory.

Key Warnings

  • No Argentine Embassy in Uganda — you must travel to Nairobi (1 hour from Entebbe) or Pretoria (South Africa) to apply. Contact the embassy well in advance.
  • Yellow fever certificate is mandatory from Uganda.
  • Argentina is a long-haul destination — allow budget of USD 60–150/day for a comfortable trip (Buenos Aires is affordable; Patagonia is expensive).

Insider Tips

  • Buenos Aires is one of the world's great cities — Palermo neighbourhood for restaurants and nightlife (dinner starts at 10 PM), La Boca for tango and street art, San Telmo antique market on Sundays. The beef (asado) is extraordinary — try Parrilla Peña or La Brigada.
  • Iguazú Falls (UNESCO) on the Argentina–Brazil border is one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders — wider than Victoria Falls and taller than Niagara. Fly BUE–IGR (1.5 hours). The Argentine side (Garganta del Diablo) is considered superior.
  • Patagonia (El Calafate, Perito Moreno Glacier, Torres del Paine) is spectacular but remote and expensive. Flying is the only practical option from Buenos Aires — LAN Argentina flies BUE–FTE (El Calafate). Budget USD 200–400/day for Patagonia lodges.

Step-by-Step Guide

UVRI Entebbe or Mulago Hospital Kampala. Yellow card at least 10 days old.

  2. Contact Argentine Embassy Nairobi to book appointment

  3. Travel to Nairobi and submit application

  4. Collect visa (5–10 days) and fly to Argentina

Entebbe (EBB) → Addis Ababa (ADD) → Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) with Ethiopian Airlines. Or via São Paulo (GRU). Total: ~20–24 hours.
