Rwanda is a top destination for Ugandan business travelers and tourists alike. The Katuna/Gatuna border crossing connects Kabale (Uganda) to Musanze (Rwanda) and is a comfortable 4–5 hour drive from Kampala. Kigali is an exceptionally clean, safe, and business-friendly city — home to many East African conferences and corporate events. Entry is visa-free for 30 days with the option to extend. Yellow fever card is the critical requirement to remember.

Insider Tips
⚠️ Yellow Fever Certificate required. Uganda is a yellow fever endemic country. A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (the yellow card) is mandatory for Ugandan passport holders entering Rwanda. Carry the original physical card. Get vaccinated at Mulago National Referral Hospital (Kampala), the Entebbe Airport Port Health Office, or any Ministry of Health-approved centre.
EAC nationals get 180 days in Rwanda, not 90
Rwanda grants East African Community citizens an entry pass free of charge for six months, not the 90 days commonly quoted. Ugandan travellers are entitled to the full 180 days on a valid passport or national ID.
